 Did you know that there was a 13% increase in prescription drug abuse for non-medical purposes from 2008 to 2009 according to the 2010 National Survey on Drug Use and Health? Sixty-three percent of teens believe that prescription drugs are easy to get from friends’ and family’s medicine cabinets according to the U.S. DEA (May 2009). Secure disposal of prescription drugs is one of the ways that WE can fight prescription drug abuse in our community. Turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal at the Toombs County Sheriff’s Department any Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The Toombs County Sheriff’s Department is located at 357 NW Broad Street in Lyons.
